Nippon Express further enhances its logistics network in Asia - Two new locations opened in Malaysia
Nippon Express (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (“NE Malaysia"; Hideaki Shigematsu, President), an overseas subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Masanori Kawai, President), last November opened its Bukit Jelutong Warehouse in Shah Alam, Malaysia's largest industrial zone, and its PTP Warehouse in Johor, Malaysia's second-largest industrial city.
The Bukit Jelutong Warehouse in Shah Alam, situated midway between Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur and Port Kelang, is very close to highways running north-south along the Malaysian peninsula, and it boasts ready access to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the Port Kelang, and major cities on the peninsula. Most importantly, the facility is about 30 minutes by car from Kuala Lumpur, the country's largest market, making it an optimal import cargo storage and distribution hub for customers seeking to do business in the domestic market. The Port Kelang Branch had previously established and operated a warehouse in the port area, but its warehousing operations have been transferred to the new location, which places an emphasis on delivery networks within Malaysia, in order to develop an efficient logistics system not limited by transport mode.
The PTP Warehouse is located in the bonded zone of the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP; opened in 2000), the logistics gateway to southern Malaysia. Its proximity to the port enables rapid import/export processing and offers favorable access to Singapore next door as well as to Senai Airport, Kuala Lumpur and Port Kelang. The warehouse features air cargo, ground transport, warehousing and removals as well as ocean cargo functions, allowing it to provide one-stop service. Being in a bonded zone, the warehouse can also handle cargo for non-residents. While enjoying the benefits of relatively low costs vis-เ-vis neighboring countries, the warehouse will meet the demands of customers as a facility offering export hub functions that make full use of the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia's leading container port.
With the new PTP Warehouse and its existing warehouse in the Port of Johor, NE Malaysia now has facilities in the free zones of the two key ports in Johor. Both warehouses have introduced Nippon Express' global inventory control system REWARDS, which makes possible centralized management of cargo regardless of its storage location.
By expanding its facilities in southern Malaysia and utilizing them in combination with existing facilities in Singapore, Nippon Express is seeking to satisfy the broad-ranging logistics needs of its customers in the area.
