    Nippon Express Launches Japan-Shanghai Port-to-Door Through Service(Waigaoqiao Express)

    Nippon Express has begun sales of Waigaoqiao Express, a seamless port-to-door service for goods shipped from airports in Japan to customers in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone (Shanghai, China) via Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport. All transport from the airport at origin to the FTZ is arranged by Nippon Express, with the result being a substantial reduction in lead time and cost.

    Many customers have faced long lead times and high costs in transporting goods to the Waigaoqiao FTZ. However, round-the-clock operations at Nippon Express’ PVG Hi-Quality Logistics Center, a new import facility opened at Shanghai’s Pudong Airport in July, make possible late-night/early-morning receipt of cargo and documentation.

    Cargo is transported from Pudong Airport to the Waigaoqiao FTZ by Nippon Express consolidated truck shipments, cutting lead time by 1 to 1.5 days.

    Waigaoqiao Express provides the full range of services customers need, from cargo transport to incidental tasks such as dispatching necessary documentation to the Waigaoqiao FTZ, applying for FTZ entry, and returning authorization documentation to Pudong Airport. Designed to be readily comprehensible to customers, the fare structure offers through rates inclusive of airfare, FTZ entry clearance fees, and consolidated truck transport.

    Nippon Express will continue to improve its ULD-intact services and operational approaches in pursuit of further improvements in quality and reductions in lead time.
