    Nippon Express Launches Chicago-Toronto Shuttle Truck Service (May
    2007)

The Chicago Air Cargo Branch of Nippon Express U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd., on April 17, 2007 launched a regular shuttle truck service between Chicago and Toronto jointly with Nippon Express Canada, Ltd. This same branch was already running a daily MTA (Midwest Time Advantage) service offering scheduled shuttle truck transport of cargo arriving at Chicago's O'Hare Airport for next-day delivery to seven Nippon Express locations in the Midwest; the Toronto route is thus the eighth.

MTA service to Toronto offers seamless transport, customs clearance, and delivery; cargo transported to the Chicago Air Cargo Branch's shed is loaded aboard a Nippon Express shuttle truck and forwarded, with Nippon Express Canada providing import customs clearance 24 hours a day at the US-Canadian border.

Demand for digital cameras and other electrical goods as well as automotive parts is high in Toronto, and transport capacity on direct flights from Japan alone cannot keep up. Scheduled Nippon Express shuttle truck service makes it possible to offer reliable transport throughout the year, ensure security and improve traceability.

Operations will begin with service three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday), but an increase in this frequency could be considered in light of the boom in cargo transported by truck from the US Midwest to Canada, particularly for the automotive industry.
