    Nippon Express (China) Co., Ltd., to change its Chinese appellation

    Nippon Express (China) Co., Ltd. (head office: Beijing; president: Tetsuo Mori), a Chinese subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (president: Masanori Kawai), will be changing its Chinese appellation from 天宇客貨運輸服務有限公司 (reflecting the company’s original name of “Uni Sky Express Service Co., Ltd.”) to 日通国際物流(中国)有限公司 with the aim of improving the Nippon Express Group’s brand recognition.

    The Nippon Express Group has 98 business locations run by 20 subsidiaries in 32 cities across China and, since its establishment in 1995 as a joint venture with a Chinese company, Nippon Express (China) has become a central player in Nippon Express’ expansion in China as a logistics provider offering comprehensive logistics services, including air cargo, ocean cargo, domestic transport, warehousing, and removals services, from 30 business locations in 21 cities. In February 2009, Nippon Express acquired a majority of the shares held by the Chinese partner company and converted the joint venture into a consolidated company. This has greatly contributed to Nippon Express’ consolidated operations and accelerated decision-making at Nippon Express (China).

    Despite the uncertainties surrounding the world economic situation, China enjoyed 7.9% year-on-year GDP growth during the second quarter of 2009 (April - June), and is expected to see further growth driven primarily by domestic demand.

    Nippon Express (China) will take advantage of the opportunity presented by its acquisition of management authority and its company name change to strengthen its domestic logistics operations by leveraging the network of other Group companies within China and to provide a broad range of customers - Japanese companies, other foreign companies, and even Chinese companies - with high-quality services by utilizing the know-how it has thus far fostered to keep pace with a dynamically growing China.
