    Nippon Express launches two-way Bangkok-Hanoi scheduled consolidated truck service to meet area's rising logistics needs

    -- Consolidated service now available along entire length of SS7000 Shanghai-Singapore truck transport route --

    Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Masanori Kawai, President), has begun offering two-way scheduled consolidated truck service between Bangkok, Thailand and Hanoi, Vietnam.

    The Company has for some time been developing infrastructure for its SS7000 truck transport service running approximately 7000km between Shanghai, China and Singapore, and scheduled consolidated service had already been made available along the Shanghai – Huanan Region (China) – Hanoi and the Bangkok – Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) – Singapore segments. By starting service on the remaining Bangkok-Hanoi leg, the Company can now provide scheduled consolidated service along the entire SS7000 route.

    Thus far, the volume of cargo bound from Hanoi to Bangkok has been extremely small in comparison to that bound from Bangkok to Hanoi, and establishing regular two-way service over this span has generally been regarded as difficult. In order to meet growing demand for just-in-time transport of the principal goods shipped in the area (motorcycles, automobiles, household appliances, etc.), for shorter lead times and for reduced inventories, the Company has employed its storage and distribution logistics locations and its ground transport network to establish two-way scheduled consolidated service between Bangkok and Hanoi. This will enable it to meet customer needs for the transport of small-lot high-frequency shipments.

    Expectations are high of greater economic collaboration with the Indochina area centered on the Mekong River valley, and of its future potential as a market. Nippon Express will continue meeting the transport needs of this diversifying and increasingly complex market by further enhancing its intra-regional transport network.
